In September 2014 Lori and I traveled to Prague in the Czech Republic. We spent several days together their, then Lori joined a Rick Steves Eastern Europe tour while I rented a car and took off for a Eastern Europe tour on my own.
My first stop after Prague was Krakow, Poland. I arrived there several days before Lori's tour.
Our itineraries overlapped geographically, but rarely at the same time.
Krakow is a beautiful and fascinating  city with a rich history.

During my second day in Krakow I walked to Wzgorze Wawel Castle.
This complex of buildings constitutes the most historically and culturally significant site in all of Poland. A fortified residency on the Vistula River.
It has nearly all European architectural styles of the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods.

In 1978 Wawel was declared the first World Heritage Site.
