In February of 2013 Lori and I flew to Santiago, Chile.
The next day we got a ride to Valparaiso where we met up with our friends Jerry and Renee.
On the fourth day of our trip all four of us boarded the Holland America ship Veendam for a two week trip around Cape Horn and up to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Buenos Aires has a lot of paintings (graffiti) on buildings throughout the city.
While exploring the colorful streets of La Boca (Caminito) I came upon this large mural
depicting the desaparecidos or "The Disappeared".
I love having the three men on the bench talking to each other oblivious to the painting.

The "disappeared" refers to an estimated 10,000 to 30,000 people who were kidnapped, tortured and murdered by the Argentine military dictatorship during the "Dirty War" from 1976 to 1983.
The term "disappeared" was used because the government denied any knowledge of their whereabouts or fate.

Below is a detail from the image.
