In June of 2018 Lori and I flew to Helsinki, Finland and spent several days there.
Next we flew to Riga, Latvia and spent several days there also.
Then we flew and Amsterdam and visited that city for a few days. After Amsterdam we took a train to Rotterdam
and stayed at the New York Hotel on Rotterdam's Wilhelmina Pier in the harbor.
This building was the headquarters of the Holland America Line built in the early 1900's.
This served as the gateway for nearly two million Europeans emigrants sailing to America.
The building was reopened as a hotel in 1993 and preserves its rich history.
We met our friends Jerry and Renee on the pier the next day and the four of us boarded a Holland America ship bound for Boston. Our first stop was in Bergen, Norway and then the Shetland Islands.
As our ship was leaving the Islands we sailed past Bressay Island.
