In the mid 1980's I took a trip to Death Valley, California.
There is a unique place in the Amargosa mountains on the east side of the valley
called Scotty's Castle. This structure is not a castle and was never owned by Scotty.
It is a Spanish-style mansion built in the 1920's as a vacation home for Chicago businessman Albert Johnson. It was named after his friend "Death Valley Scotty", a gold prospector.
