Lori and I visited Vietnam in 2010. They are a wonderful group of people. Happy and inviting.
After spending time in the Mekong and along the eastern shore, we boarded a train in Hanoi and travelled to the mountains of the far north, near the border with China in the village of Sapa.
This area is home to the Black Hamong people, famous for their deep indigo-dyed clothing and intricate hemp textiles.
We spent the night in an eco-lodge on top of a hill overlooking beautiful and intricate rice fields.
In the late afternoon we were getting ready to eat a meal when I spotted these roses in a vase
sitting on another table with natural light coming in from the windows.
The regular version of this is beautiful, but the "faux painting" is perfect, and the only way I print this image.

Below is a detail from the image.
