Lori and I visited Vietnam in 2010. They are a wonderful group of people. Happy and inviting.
After spending time in the Mekong and along the eastern shore, we boarded a train in Hanoi and travelled to the mountains of the far north, near the border with China in the village of Sapa.
This area is home to the Black Hamong people, famous for their deep indigo-dyed clothing and intricate hemp textiles.
We spent the night in an eco-lodge on top of a hill and took a walk in the afternoon.
Looking down from the hill was this beautiful and intricate rice field with a farm house in the middle.
