Lori's parents moved to the town of Mt Shasta, California in 1984.
We have visited them countless times over the years and I have photographed the mountain in all four seasons and under all conditions.
From our home in Orange County California it is about an eleven hour drive.
When we had very young kids, much longer.
For this image I used a modified Nikon camera that exposes for infrared light only.
This is the western slope of the mountain with a large forest in the foreground.
This mountain is known for having lenticular cloud formations, but on this day the clouds were completely unique. I had never seen clouds like this before or sense.
There must have been tremendous upward winds to form clouds like these.
