The Alabama Hills are a six hour drive north on highway 395 from my home in Dana Point.
This drive is along the eastern edge of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range and is a photographer's dream. In our college days Lori and I would backpack the Sierras with our friends Tom and Debby.
The Alabama Hills, just west of the town of Lone Pine, is the location for many Western movies and modern day car commercials.
There are several natural arches in the hills. My favorite one is Mobius Arch.
Not only does it have a unique shape, but it can also frame an image of Mt Whitney, shown here.
At 14,505 feet, Mt Whitney is the highest point in the continental United States.
