In March of 2019 Lori and I flew to Istanbul, Turkey.
After spending several days exploring on our own we joined up with a Rick Steves tour. This tour started in Istanbul, but in the following weeks we visited a lot of Turkey, from Ankara to Cappadocia to the south and eventually to the west coast and Kusadasi.
We arrived in Kusadasi toward the end of our trip and spent the night there.
Everyone was excited about the next day because we go to Ephesus.
Ephesus was a major ancient Greek city, a Roman provincial capital and one of the most
important cities in the early Christian Church.
The apostles Paul and John spent many years here and Mary probably spent her final years here.
In ancient times it was famous for its Temple of artemis, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Today it is mostly known for its Library of Celsus.

Leaving early in the morning we arrived in Ephesus before the masses of people.
While Lori stayed with Tylan and the rest of our group, I ran ahead to get to the library before other people arrived. I was mostly successful as there were few of us there.
This image is taken from inside the library, looking out.

During this trip we had the pleasure of meeting Chris and Jenny, who live in Oregon.
We have remained great friends for many years after this trip and still travel together today.
Below is a detail of the image.
