My hiking buddy Tom and I took a road trip in February of 2019. We spent our time in northern Arizona and southern Utah. The weather went from warm and sunny to very cold and snow.
On this morning we were driving toward Monument Valley on hwy 160. When we came to the junction of hwy 163, we were suppose to turn and head north, but I kept going on hwy 160. Tom kept telling me we should have turned north on hwy 163, but I assured him
that my "keen sense of direction" was always right.
Well, after about twenty minutes I realized that Tom was right
so we turned around and headed back to hwy 163.
As it turned out, this was a wonderful mistake. By going this way we passed by Church Rock in beautiful early morning light. Had we gone the correct way, we would have missed this image.
