In September of 2017 Lori and I flew to Lisbon for a month long trip to Portugal.
On day twenty of our trip, Lori joined a five-day birding class in Portugal.
At the same time I flew to Marrakesh, Morocco for several days and
then took an eight-hour taxi ride to Chefchaouen, the Blue City of Morocco.

This is truly a unique city. Most of the structures are painted in differing shades of blue.
Wandering through the walkways of the city was a delight.
The town was founded in 1471 by the Moulay Ali Ben Rachid, a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad.
The original structure was a small fortress
built to defend the area from attacks by the Portuguese.

This late afternoon image contains one of the many arches in the walkways throughout the town,
and a very nice wall painting on the right.
